Hey Solos,
I just spent a week with the most optimistic group of folks I’ve talked to in ages. I’m writing about it in
so I won’t say much here. Except to say that I feel full. Full of energy, hope and a sense of YES! I hope you’ve had an experience like this recently because with all that’s going on in the world, we all need an injection of this….often.Do you think slow or fast in your remote work life?
Before we face our control issues (that’s what a dis-ease for uncertainty comes from, right?), let’s talk about communication styles. I had the pleasure to meet Fawn, one of the co-hosts of Our Friendly World, last week. This podcast is so emotionally soft and smart. Love it! Think you’ll love it to. Maybe start with this episode on slow and fast communication styles. Maybe you’ll forgive yourself for processing slowly like Fawn talks about. Hmmmm.

Today I’m revisiting episode 2 on uncertainty. (Funny side note: this parody mentions uncertainty for Gen X and made me think of this SWM ep.)
I created this episode in December 2023, nearly half a year ago, and yet I still have minor two year old temper tantrums during my solo workday because of the constant uncertainty. Business has picked up, which I thought would lessen the uncertainty but you know what? It hasn’t. At all.
In fact, with more clients my work life uncertainty increases.
Who knew?!?!?!

What’s keeping me grounded lately…
The
Substack has a new issue with 3 breathing exercises here. We’ve done a version of boxed brearhing in SWM but not the Vooo breathing for coherence that she mentions at the end of the post. I just did it and it feels so satisfying. Should I use more vagus nerve techniques in season 2 of SMW.
For those of you that prefer to work from home but like the ambiance of a cafe, this I Miss My Cafe website might be of interest. I had fireplace and machinery turned up but not the music. That was too much. It’s an interesting idea.
I have some foot issues and pesky IT bands, so I decided to try out these quick exercises for leg circulation. The squats and calf raises are already in my routine but the foot flexes while sitting on the coach are new to me and super easy to do. If you’re sitting a lot try them out and see if it helps.
I’m constantly consuming content on how to make my life simpler, saner, healthier but also more enjoyable. No extreme habits here. I hope these help you too.

That’s it for season 1. I’ll be back in the Fall with more episodes.
